Trusted by travellers for over a decade, Southern Cross Travel Insurance is committed to being with Australians on their journey now, and in the future.

In partnership with research agency YouGov, Southern Cross Travel Insurance surveyed more than 1,000 Australians to better understand their attitudes towards travel and investigate the impact of the cost of living crisis on travel behaviours in the foreseeable future.

The research took place in January 2024.

We found that travel is still a top priority for many Aussies

83% of Australians will need to reduce the cost of travel due to the rising cost of living.

47% of Australians still consider travel to be more important than other discretionary spending.

17% of Millennials claimed travel is their top priority when it comes to discretionary spending, significantly more than any other generation.

2.4 million Australians are opting not to take out travel insurance due to cost of living pressures.
